Union Primary 1890 - This is a new building, erected during the year on the grounds and adjoining the Union School on the south (Third Street). The building is of brick three stories high, and contains eleven rooms, eight of which are used for primary and grammar grades with sittings for 450 pupils. It is heated and ventilated by the Ruttan Heating and Ventilating system and has the Smead dry air closets in the basement 1891 - An additional water connection. 1895 - Union Primary is no longer listed as a separate school. (Since the main Union school has increased to 25 rooms, I assume it is now considered one school perhaps with no primary grades) 1912 - New plumbing has been installed in the Union elementary (GR Herald, 20 Aug 1912, p.3) |
