Seventh Street School SE 1/4 of Section 23 Walker Township July 9, 1884 south side of Seventh Street at Jennette, known as Seventh Street School Van Buren and Turner's Addition surveyed by by Robert Innes in 1855 for Oscar Van Buren and Hannah Turner. Street Name Changes: VanBuren renamed Seventh, Stone to Fifth in 1865, Union to Alpine, Butternut to McReynolds in 1873, Locust to Davis in 1873, Fair to Muskegon in 1873,, West Division to Seward in 1912. 1884 - corner of Seventh and Stocking, 287' on Seventh x 120' deep purchased for $2500. Propose six room, 2-story brick building for relief of Union, West Leonard and Pine schools. 1885 - On this site during the past year a new six room white brick building has been erected - seating of 300 and heated by six hot air furnaces. The building is ready for use and all rooms will be occupied. The grounds have been graded and sidewalks laid. Collar and Greiner 1885 map does not show this school. 1886 - Six room brick building heated by hot-air furnaces, the closets are in the basement and connected to city water and sewer. Value $18,000. . 1888 - Seventh Ward 1891 - Two stories above basement The original site: 1905 - Plumbing condemned 1907 Ogle map: no change. It also shows shows site two as residence of Mary Stocking, Stocking and Smith Add.Ogle Walker 1913 Sanborn Fire map. Not found 1920 - A new site was purchased for $25,000., 1921 Annual Report - old 6th Ward - original site lots 5, 6, 7, 8 and the west 44 feet of lot 4, block 5 of Van Buren & Turner's Addition. 1921 - Plans for new building include accommodation for crippled children as a temporary measure.. . 1922 - contract let for new school. The work was commenced in the early spring and the construction has gone along so that they will be ready for use in September, 1923 See Stocking

2005 First location: lots 6,7,8 Block 5 of VanBuren and Turner's Now a traffic island, extension of Jennette Street and two houses one of which is 828 Seventh ppn=41-13-23-430-001
