While the school was near the southern end of Ward 1,
most of the students lived in Ward 1 or 3.
Relationships are inferred.

First Ward - east of the river, west of Division Ave, south of Michigan, north

Third Ward - east of Division, west of Eastern, south of Michigan, north of
Wealthy

On 27 Jun 1861 a permanent site was purchased.
