Section boundary lines run along Eastern Avenue to Rathbun Avenue;  Michigan St to Wealthy St

Eastern Avenue runs along the N/S 1/4 line. Fulton Street runs along the E/W 1/4 line.

The yellow line indicates the section line which does NOT jog as opposed to other maps which have been drawn erroneously.

Emma changed to Orchard Hill, Hazel and Sophie vacated for Houseman Field, Alden to Evangeline, Hillwood does not ring a bell so it was probably vacated. Alden to Evangeline,  the Evangeline Home (Salvation Army for unwed mothers) was adjacent.. Congress, Diamond and Lake Schools are in this section.   The future Hillcrest school is indicated by the red "H".

Just because a portion of  Eastern Avenue which originated as Cemetery Street jogs doesn't mean the section line jogs.  The yellow line shows the actual section line running through Fulton Cemetery.  Just because Fuller Avenue jogs doesn't mean the 1/4 section line jogs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Section 32 W 1/2  in 1857 then rescinded.  Annexed all in 1891. Page 31

Section boundary lines run along Eastern Avenue to West of Glenwood; Wealthy Street to Hall Street

Section boundary lines run along Three Mile Street to Knapp Street; extension of Division Ave and Rowe Ave.

The N/S 1/4 line runs along Oakwood Avenue.  The E/W 1/4 line runs along Guild Street

The Comstock Riverside Plat was replated.  I have not yet been able to determine the name of the Grand Rapids Twp School at the corner of Crosby (Eleanor) and Coit but suppose it is the forerunner to Fairmount School located at the corner of Graceland and Euclid (Oakwood) in 1911 which is indicated with the red "F".

Section 28 NW portion in 1927, NE and SW portions in 1960.

The boundary lines for Cities within this section are very irregular and I am not attempting to draw them.

The boundary lines are Michigan to Robinson Rd , Glenwood extended - to the East Beltline

The balance is in either the City of East Grand Rapids or Grand Rapids Twp.

.

Section 6, both sides of the river,  was annexed in 1960. Page 37

Section boundary lines run along "Division Avenue to "Eastern" Avenue.  Four Mile Rd to Three Mile Rd.

The N/S 1/4 line runs along the west side of vacated Home Avenue.  The E/W 1/4 line runs along I-96.

   The suburb of North Park.

The small streets south of Wright and west of Coit are Paris or College will have to double check while  Home is vacated.  It is interesting that both Coit and Plainfield Rd are indicated as the same street on Ogle.  The name should be Coit.  I've never heard it referred to as Plainfield which lies to the East.  .

I don't know the original location of the North Park School.  I-196 has taken much of the land between the Old Soldier's Home and North Park St.  The Old Soldiers Home is in this section.
