Central High School 1911 - to present (2006)    See Fountain the previous occupant of this site. 

1917 - During the year, Mr. Toogood, night fireman at the Central High school, and  Mr. McDonald, janitor at Finney school met with fatal accidents. The sites committee - have under consideration  the purchase of -  a house and lot in the rear.

1953 Sanborn Fire Map shows the addition of a very small girls' gym built sometime after Fountain School was moved out of the bigger boys' gym.  The 1930 addition which included a third-floor cafeteria is also shown. Notice that the heating plat at Central was set up to heat the new Fountain School.  The lot addresses are 401, 407, 431, 453 Fountain St NE.

Cost: $ 25.8 million
Highlights: a $7.3 million northwest addition to the gym, including new bleachers, weight room, girls' locker rooms and a pool; $11.3 to remodel boys' locker rooms, computer labs, classrooms, stage, balcony and office and replace heating and electric systems; and $1.3 million for computers and video equipment.
The fourth floor, now used for staff development, will become classrooms.
