John Ball willed on August 25, 1869 "for a public park or other public purposes". He died in Jan 1884. 40 acres of diversified landscape and varied terrain with a natural forest of oaks and with brooks and ponds. There was a proposal to move the Pest House from Hall and Eastern to JBP. It was moved to Fuller north of Michigan instead. The land lay unimproved until 1890 When Wencel L.
