The Fallacy of Freedom Guaranteed by Democracy.

These are just really random thoughts that I have incorporated into other essays, eventually.

The WWII generation were benevolent tyrants. They protected incompetent males. They truly believed that women and Blacks were not capable of higher thought. So they thought for them. They were wrong.

Maybe it took the onslaught of the 60's to shake them up. Now comes the onslaught of "political correctness" which is telling someone what they think instead of asking. But the pendulum has swung too far. Now, in the name of freedom, every vice is catered to. In the name of religious freedom, children are schooled in terror, selfishness, arrogance and immorality. In the name of "the American Way" making money by whatever means necessary is flaunted. Greed and the love of money are justified as necessary for success. Forcing slut in someone's face is called Freedom of Speech. Disgusting TV is shown with the caveat of "if you don't like it, you can get up and change the channel".

Separation of Church and State is not in the Constitution. But what did it mean in it's timeline? When the American Revolution happened against England, it was the law of the land that a citizen's ability to own property, inherit property, attend school, run for political office, or even vote demanded that they must belong to the Church of England.

With easily available, cheap and good birth control, unwanted pregnancy should be rare.

It should now be called Careless Pregnancy.

The No Call list should be expanded to the No Spam list.

Capital punishment is protested as some murders can happen in heat of passion. Some murder victims may appear to be deserving of their fate. But spamming requires deliberate, cold, cool, cunning with no passion. And there is no redeeming value to spamming. I cry Capital Punishment for Spammers!

I say we need a return to good common decency and don't hand me the malarkey that no one can agree. The porno and gambling TV can be available at extra cost and only if someone asks for it. The V chip should not be required for filtering out the crap but for filtering in the crap. The customer must specifically request the crap. They should be the ones who have to get up and change the channel. This is not a Freedom of Speech issue. It's a making money issue.

With all this emphasis on ignorant opinion widely accepted and the acceptance of "reality TV" I now understand the Romans acceptance of the deaths in the gladiator ring. Rome was a Democracy and they had slaves. The Fall of the American Empire sure took a lot less time then the fall of the Roman Empire. Are the Mexicans the barbarians knocking at the gates? Was Martin Luther King a non-violent Spartacus?

The current generation doesn't want to be told anything. They don't want to do anything previous generations did. But if you don't know what they did previously, how can you be different?

To quote Mary Astor: "A person without memory is either a child or an amnesiac. A country without memory is neither a child nor an amnesiac, but neither is it a country."

And if you don't know who Mary Astor was, she said: "There are five stages in the life of an actor: Who's Mary Astor? Get me Mary Astor. Get me a Mary Astor Type. Get me a young Mary Astor. Who's Mary Astor?"

My definition of Political Correctness: Think for someone else, don't ask.  Think for them.  Assume what they think.  Don't ask. Don't answer their question.  Answer the question you think they meant to  ask. Don't do what they asked you to do.  Do what you think they meant to ask you.   Don't stay on topic.  Assume that's not what they really wanted to talk about.  Think for them.  Change the topic.  Don't ask.  

Creativity is not the absence of  rules, that's anarchy. Creativity can only occur within rules. Detroit should be creative.  They should give everyone a choice, gas peddle to the left or gas pedal to the the right of the brake pedal.  Everyone should have a choice - drive on the left-hand side of the road if you want to.  Democracy is about choice.  Do whatever you want!

Politicians run on the slogan of CHANGE. But they don't specify what or when or how or why. Here's change: Stop at green lights and go on red. See how long you survive.

Neither students  nor teachers  can foretell the future. No one knows what a student will need to know by the time he must be a responsible adult BUT the teacher knows he will not have time in the future to learn the skills he will need in the future.  He must be prepared NOW for anything, everything he will or won't need in the future.  The future comes at you fast.  Be prepared!  For another depression.  For a nuclear war.  For cancer.  For poverty.  For wealth.  For a good spouse.  For a bad spouse.  For no spouse,  For fun, too much fun.  For boredom.  For pleasure.  For pain.  Be Prepared! Life comes at your fast.
