1921- Grand Rapids Vocational school established. Foundation has been laid.  - Pupils who went on to high school - say 10 per cent - preparing for some professional occupation.  Nothing was done for the 90 per cent who left school - and went to work.  Two houses and lots were purchased on Bostwick Avenue to enlarge the site.

1922 - The plans and specifications for the new Vocational school were completed an construction a begin un the early spring.  It was hoped that his school would be ready for occupancy in February, 1923, but owing to the inability to get material and labor, its is very doubtful if it will be ready at that time.

1944 - Davis Tech was closed as too expensive per Mr. Upton

1953 Sanborn map shows this building as part of Grand Rapids Junior College, now GR Community College built in 1923. Apparently part of it was built in 1929-1930. When I was a student, girls were required to wear dresses and use the stairs.  The entire block next to it is a big parking ramp. This was built after I was a student.

The red "x's" mark a path students used to use all the time but Mich Bell kept trying to block it.
