Conservative vs. Liberal or Republican vs. Democratic Am I a Conservative or a Liberal? What is meant by a Conservative? A conservative is careful, frugal, cautious. Or is he anxious, cheap, scared? What is meant by a Liberal? A liberal is thoughtful of others, generous, fearless. Or is he indulgent, wasteful, careless? My definition: A Republican has his fingers covering his full pockets and he ain't gonna share, just invest, in himself. A Democrat has his fingers in the Republican's pocket and is willing to share the Republican's money. The problem with Republican's is that they have extended caution to mean selfish. The problem with Democrats is that they have substituted the State Primaries (popularity contests) for the cigar filled back rooms and find unproven popularity winners as "their" candidate whom they don't want to back. The Republican has lost sight of the country. He only sees himself. What's good for himself, not others. The Democrat has lost sight of his path. He only sees good-looking popularity. What's good for the cover, not depth. The symptom, other than incompetent leaders, is the onslaught of
"reality" programs controlled by "popularity" contests. Let's use Dancing
with the Stars, the one with John O'Herlity, a show I liked, as an example.
I still remember a cute female nightly news anchor bragging about how many times
she had voted for the cute girl who deserved to win, not because of her
technique but because she was cute. I thought that comment had no business
