Chicago Style As my mother was from Chicago I spent quite a bit of time there. I noticed the significant difference in architectural style. In Grand Rapids, houses tended to be square or the old farmhouse style. In Chicago, houses tended to be long and narrow. There were only three neighborhoods in Grand Rapids that had those long narrow Chicago-style houses: Lexington Avenue SW Clancy Ave NE Most of those homes have been torn down but can be seen quite clearly in the Sanborn Fire Maps.
From Heading Architecture From Website MyGrandRapids.info I have tried to impact every source with corrections or comments so everything on this site is copywrited. The information may be used for your project but the source must be cited.Contact Information
