the E. 25 feet of the Alley running E. and W. through said Boss' Addition.
Lots 1-12 and 18-23 of Boss Add platted 1889 for Sikke S. Boss and Sikke W. Boss. Boss Street renamed Griggs.
1895 - Lot is located in the Twelfth Ward on the corners of Buchanan Street, Griggs and Brown Avenue. Sanborn map does not cover this area.
1896 - school built.
1897 is a model building in the twelfth Ward on Buchanan Street between Brown and Griggs Avenue. The lot is 265x150 feet. It is a two-story and basement brick building with cut-stone trimmings, galvanized iron cornices and slate roof. It contains eight rooms with sittings for 400 pupils. The building is heated with steam, well ventilated, supplied with city water and well water for drinking purposes. The closets for this building are located in the rear of the lot.
1907 - recommendation to add 4 rooms same construction as Palmer. The work done at this building was practically a duplication of that at Palmer avenue, four regular school rooms and a branch library, principal's office, teachers' dining room, nurses or rest room and small recitation or exhibition room. The architects for both were Messrs. Robinson and Campau, and the general contractor for both was Mr. John Jungbacker.
1907 Ogle map pg 34:
1908 - The addition was completed and used the past year. A room was fitted up for a branch public library (which is) in use.
1914 - Plans to remodel the east entrance for fire protection.
1921 Annual Report - Old 12th Ward - Lots 1-10 and 18-21 of boss' Addition except the west 14 feet of lot 10 and the west 13 feet of lot 21. Also vacated alleys.
1922 - Contract was let for addition which will be ready for use the second semester of the school year 1922-23.
1923 - new school
1953 Sanborn Fire Map Page 218 shows the original school as built 1886-1907 with an addition of fireproof concrete dated 1922. The assigned lot addresses are 218 Brown St SW, 225 Griggs St SW, 1747 Buchanan Ave SW.
