1905 - Plumbing condemned

1909 - building has been condemned

1914 - proposal to abandon old wooden building with  new school built on the Sheldon site.

1917 - I wish to renew my recommendation that the board of education utilize the old Ionia building as a school for these boys.  I am sure that with a moderate expenditure of money a much better opportunity can be given to truant and incorrigible boys and that we shall be able to give them the right training at home instead of sending them to Lansing.  I do not wish you to infer that our truant school has been a failure.  But we have not done enough for these boys.  During the years 1916-17, 82 boys have been enrolled in this school.  Of course there were not 82 boys in this school at any one time. The  population of this school ought to be a shifting one, the purpose being to take these boys form the regular schools when they become incorrigible and to train them as quickly as possible to be restored to the schools from which they came.

1921 - This is the only school described as frame and is in poor condition.
