Decision to allow razing of Iroquois Middle School benefits Grand Rapids Christian Schools, city.

Grand Rapids Christian Schools Association (to) demolish an 84-year-old structure, formerly Iroquois Middle School and before that use, Ottawa Hills High School. Ottawa High Last year, Grand Rapids Public Schools entered into an agreement with GRCS to sell the 8.5 acres - which houses the more than 200,000-square foot building - for $1.95 million. The Christian schools are looking to consolidate four elementary schools - Oakdale, Creston, Evergreen and Millbrook - into one building at a cost of $12.5 million. The new 500-student school is expected to open in 2010.   

Located at the corner of Alexander Road SE and Iroquois Avenue SE, Iroquois closed in 2005, but has been used as a temporary home for students from schools undergoing renovations.
