The middle-class shopping district extended from Pearl Street up Monroe Avenue to Fulton Street, from the Dime Stores past Wurzburg's and Steketee's to Herpolsheimer's.

This page shows the Dime stores from Woolworth's (Now National City Bank) but the rest are all gone, taken by a new Monroe Street when Monroe was converted to Monroe Center, a pedestrian mall. .
