610 Lafayette Ave NE Lot 49 49 ALSO S 1/2 OF LOT 50 * SWEETS SUBDIVISION The front door on the left side opened into a hall containing an open stairway. Then a door entered the Hooper's living room. The front room was used as a bedroom. The bathroom was beyond the living room to the left. The upstairs apartment had a small room off to the left of the living room. Uncle Clyde stayed there. We never played in the barn. A sale description gave: vestibule, LR, DR, Kit, 3 bedrooms and bath down as well as a marble fireplace which I don't remember. Upstairs had a LR, DR, kit, 2 bedrooms and a bath. I remember the kitchen. It was very narrow in the rear with lots of windows. The assessor's report says it was built about 1900, it had no fireplace, a stone 3/4 basement, hardwood floors down and pine up, 2 baths, coal furnace down, stove up, five rooms on the first floor, 4 up. . don't know where she went to school. My dad called her Tootsie Roll. Her dad was
away in the army or so we had been told. Her mother worked so we played
downstairs in her grandma's apartment. Mr. Hooper had a big black
strop hanging in the bathroom. They always had a bowl of unshelled walnuts
out on the table.
